My internship experience

From the voice of Kylie Gray

This summer was one for the books. I stepped into Trent Creative on my first day not knowing what to expect. This was my first internship in the real world and all I was looking for was knowledge, but I gained so much more.

Not many interns have the opportunity to work so closely with clients and gain first hand experience, but I was lucky enough to walk into a world of opportunity. My very first day consisted of writing up social media calendars and researching new avenues for clients. As the weeks went on I was developing Facebook and Twitter posts, generating new campaigns for clients, learning how a small business works, writing multiple press releases for various clients and even attending meetings with current and potential clients. I grew close to the amazing staff as they welcomed me with open arms and big hearts. There was some adjusting to get into my groove, but the environment is warm and really gets your creative juices flowing with bright colors and enjoyable art pieces.

Walking in on my first day, I would not have believed anyone if they told me what I was going to accomplish this summer, but I’m glad I was able to with the help from the entire Trent Creative team and all of the amazing clients they work with. From social media for Parts Galore to entering codes on the back end of websites to early morning client meetings, I gained an abundance of valuable understanding for this field of work.

I would have to say that my favorite part about working at Trent Creative is coming into the office every morning and being greeted by smiling faces. As an intern, it is nice to know that people care about you and that definitely holds true at Trent Creative. These people are extremely talented at what they do and always put the clients first no matter what pressure it may cause.  I learned something different from each of them because they all have something different to offer, but together they are what make Trent Creative what it is today.

My advice for any new intern is to walk in on your first day with confidence, never say no to a new task, listen carefully, take notes, get to know your coworkers and most importantly enjoy every minute because it is gone before you know it.

Good luck to those entering a new internship and thank you to all the wonderful people at Trent Creative for giving me the experience of a lifetime.
